What is a vortex?
In general terms a vortex can be defined as a place where energy is exchanged between different systems. These systems can differ widely and exist even in our human energy system. We then call them chakras and acupuncture points. Only in connection with Earth energy do we call these spiraling energies that exchange energy between systems “vortexes”. On Earth these systems are networks of lines that go around the Earth. There are many kinds of vortexes connected to the Earth. The Earth energy vortexes can differ hugely in size, intensity and function.

Vortexes have contributed to Sedona’s fame. In general 4 to 6 vortexes are mentioned for the Sedona area, but actually there are hundreds of them. Vortexes are of course not limited to Sedona; they are found everywhere on Earth. In Sedona the quantity and the variety of vortexes is more than in any other area of the world, as far as we are aware of.

There are many different types of vortexes each of which has a different effect on the human energy system. Some can be used for healing and balancing. Others can help you to expand consciousness. The most beneficial way to profit from the vortex energy is while being in a state of relaxation.

During a Sedona vortex tour you will be given information on the different types of vortexes and what these vortexes can do for you. Through a guided meditation you will enter a state of relaxation which opens you for a more profound experience. To optimize your experience you will be taken to a variety of different types of vortexes.

The different possibilities
All vortex tours take place in the beautiful area of the Sedona red rocks. Sedona was called the most beautiful place in America by the USA Weekend’s Annual Travel Report in May 2003. There are two main possibilities. On the property of a B&B called the Dreammaker (see Links) are many vortexes which are concentrated in a way which makes an in-depth experience possible with a minimum amount of walking. This basic vortex tour lasts about 1 ½ hours and costs $75.00 for the first person and $25.00 for each additional person.

The other option is for those who like to combine a vortex tour with a hike. Such vortex hiking tours can be done in different durations with hikes of different challenges. Each vortex tour will be adapted to your personal needs and wishes. The basic hiking vortex tour takes about 2 to 2 ½ hours and costs $85.00 for the first person and $40.00 for each additional person. If you choose for a more expanded experience and/or a longer vortex hiking tour of 4 or more hours you pay $40.00 per hour for the first person and $15.00 per hour for each additional person.
